Independent Playground Equipment Installation & Surfacing Specialist
On 19th May, Playsafe Playgrounds Ltd welcomed students from Mannor House School for an engaging hands-on workplace visit.
Since October 2025, Playsafe has been working with DUCTU to offer workplace visits to schools as part of our ongoing community outreach programme. These visits give students an insight into our industry, the wide range of roles within the playground sector, and the skills needed to work in a manufacturing environment.
Our aim is to help young people build confidence, broaden their understanding of employment opportunities, and gain valuable experience in a real workplace setting.
We strive to make each visit as engaging and interactive as possible. Alongside a tour of our facilities, students take part in practical workshops that allow them to experience different aspects of our work. During their visit, students worked with Robinia timber, painting CNC-cut graphics before sanding their creations. They also explored our swing chain components and took part in a fun team challenge to see how quickly they could assemble them.
The day finished with a design challenge inspired by their own school, where students used what they had learned to create ideas for an outdoor play area. This activity encourages creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving while giving them a taste of the design process behind our playgrounds. On this occasion, the teachers look home this project to be completed with more classmates and we look forward to seeing what they designed.
As well as being a manufacturing facility, Playsafe’s premises are also home to a working farm. We recently joined a Stewardship Scheme and have taken meaningful steps to improve biodiversity across the land.
Our conservation work includes planting over 1,000 metres of native hedgerows, creating wildflower meadows, establishing grass-legume mixes to support pollinators, and growing bird seed crops. These initiatives have already contributed to a noticeable increase in local wildlife, particularly bird populations.
During their visit, students also enjoyed a tour of the farm, learning about our environmental commitments and spotting wildlife along the way.
“We had a really informative and practical morning, and it was lovely to see one of our students who was very anxious at the start become relaxed and fully involved in the activities. Please thank all of the team — we really appreciate the time and effort everyone put into making the visit such a success.”
